Home Sweet Home

I was crazy happy today to find this tiny little moss and sheeps wool nest in the hedge opposite the house. The hedgecutter had been rather brutally cutting back all the growth and it revealed this little perfect bundle hanging off one of the branches. It so small and pefectly made...I thought I couldn't love and admire birds anymore...but I have a new found respect! I would love to have seen how small the eggs must have been that were hatched in it. I've been reading up on different birds nests on the computer and it seems likey that it's a Goldfinch nest. I will forever be scouring the hedges now in the hope of spotting another one!
I'm linking up with Fiona over at  Raindrops and Daisys for another Greenday.

Wishing you a warm and joyous weekend...I'm feeling the need for a bonfire!
Love Dotty

(and I must add that it has inspired a most brilliant idea..I'll share it with you once I've had a go at making it...yey!! Thank you mother nature!)

  4. I know how you felt to find such a lovely tiny sweet nest. When I arrived here in France we needed to cut down some overgrown hedges too near to the house & I found one exactly the same, it had little blue forget-me-nots woven into it.You are right it is a Goldfinch nest. Enjoy your weekend. Barbara

  7. It's so beautiful! We found a similar one in our shed, with 2 little eggs in, but my Dad moved it out of the way (to get to his tools) and the birds never returned. Poor little eggs.

What I wouldn't give to find another one! xx

  8. it is amazing that such tiny little creatures can create such beautiful nests, they look so cosy and warm.
Wonder what is a greenday that you are going on, not come across one of those before, lazy days and rainy days and lots of other days but never green ones.

    1. Hi and thanks for visiting! I'm just so amazed that a creature could build such an intricate creation with only a tiny beak! Just amazing! Greenday is a blog link up party where you share a picture of anything pretty much as long as its green (ish!)....but I warn you that link parties ca be pretty time consuming as you get lost in reading all the other posts that are linked up...although I am becoming the master of creating distractions from crafting for you (and myself!!). Take Care, Lisa :)

  15. Amazing.
We found one the other day (not nearly as perfect.)
We put it back where we found it, in our lemon tree, hoping it would be re-nested. Not sure, but one can hope!
